Around the world there are more than 200 operators had launched 5G commercial services, and in China mainland, there are more than 3000 5G private networks now, 5G to vertical industry has entered the fast track. To promote the deployment of 5G in vertical industry, the 3GPP R16 & R17 standard has enhanced features to meet the requirements of industrial scenarios and to optimize and improve networks in accordance with industry development. The 5G private network right now becomes the key infrastructure for industrial innovation.
Genew updates its small footprint core network solutions to meet the various requirement of vertical industry, such as easy maintenance, lower cost, high security and reliability. First for industry users, it is expansive to have a professional maintenance team to manage the 5G private network of its own, so the network itself should be easy installation and provide features such as self-configuration, self-management and remote open APIs for a third-party cooperation to reduce the technical requirement. Second there are flexible deployment options for the industry users to meet different financial target. The 5GC of the private network could be deployed on public clouds like AWS or Alibaba Cloud or on a private cloud in the campus, and it could be a totally independent private network, or a hybrid private network that only some Network Functions are deployed in the campus and connect to the local CSP’s network for full functionalities. Third it is important for industry users to reinforce the reliability of the 5G private network to achieve 99.9999% availability to keep the production safe for year long time. And the last is the 5G private network should provide features defined in 3GPP standard R16 & R17, such as 5G LAN, NPN, TSN, dual connectivity etc., to cope with the increasing requirements and scenarios.
In bare-metal deployment scenario, the Genew small footprint 5GC (EPC/5GC/IMS) could be installed in a single server, or EPC/5GC in a single server and IMS in another server, or Control plane in a single server and User plane in another server. All of them are convergently deployed, IMS is combined with 5GC to provide an overall voice solution.
In cloud deployment scenario, Genew UnionCore(EPC, 5GC) and mSwitch(IMS) support any cloud with standard OpenStack API or Kubernetes API, the tested integration is with, not limited to VMware, RHEL, Ubuntu etc., or public cloud like Alibaba Cloud, Amazon Cloud, Microsoft Azure Cloud etc.
